The Pinnacle at Symphony Place is 29 stories, 417 feet tall, and on sunny days like shown here, seems to become a mirage in the sky.

Approved for construction in 1856, it was delayed by the outbreak of the US Civil War, with the cornerstone finally laid by President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1877. Designed in the Victorian Gothic style, the Customs House was a Federal courthouse, customs house, and post office.
