Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Murfreesboro was founded in 1811 as a county seat for Rutherford County, but soon became home of the Tennessee state capitol, which was relocated from Knoxville in 1818 to keep up with westward growth. One of the fastest growing cities in the US, Murfreesboro is the location of Middle Tennessee State University, a historic and vibrant downtown courthouse square, a fully-restored antebellum plantation house, and several significant Civil War Battlefield sites.
