Keith Dotson Photographs Chosen for Lobby of the Sam Houston Hotel in Downtown Houston

Total of nine black and white photographs selected for the hotel's lobby and billiard room

Fine art photographer Keith Dotson is excited to announce that a large collection of his photographs can now be seen in the lobby and adjoining billiard room of the historic Sam Houston Hotel on Prairie Street in downtown Houston.

About the Sam Houston Hotel

The Sam Houston Hotel, sometimes called just "The Sam," is located one block south of the 1910 Harris County Courthouse. It was named after Sam Houston (1793 – 1863), the general who served as the Commander-in-Chief of the Texian army that helped Texas win its independence from Mexico. Houston served as the first and third President of the Republic of Texas. He later represented Texas as a U.S. Senator and became the only person to serve as Governor of two states  Texas and Tennessee.

Notable Texas architecture firm Sanguinet, Staats, Hendrick and Gottlieb designed the hotel, which was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The Lobby

The lobby of the Sam Houston Hotel hosts three of Keith's panoramic photographs of abandoned places.

A beautiful billiard room containing six Keith Dotson photographs adjoins the lobby of the hotel. All of these framed photographs represent abstractions made from natural subjects.
