Even the simplest landscape photographs can have dramatic back stories. This is the big tree on the old McFadden farm in Tennessee. It may look like an ordinary tree in the middle of a bucolic pasture, but this tree has stories to tell. It has been a "witness tree," it marks a 170 year old cemetery, and it was the backdrop for one of the bloodiest battles of the US Civil War.
