This single-room County Line School served rural students from its isolated location amidst the farm fields of Ottawa County, Kansas.
A historical marker from the Ottawa County Historical Museum on the site dates the school from 1887-1945. However, many sources online claim this particular building was built in 1920 and operated until the 1960s.
The sturdy red brick school included a basement that provided shelter in case of tornadoes, but now acts as a roost for swallows and pigeons.
