This beautifully bent tree stands on a stretch of coastline on Jekyll Island, Georgia called Driftwood Beach. Its roots are still anchored to the eroding sand of the beach, and yet its dramatically curved trunk allows its upper branches to dip under the sand of the beach as well. On the horizon at the left, a fishing trawler can be seen as a tiny speck.
