She Used to Be Somebody's Baby: Set of two black and white photographs of a vintage car abandoned in the forest

New work: a diptych of two fine art photographs of a beautifully rusting antique car that's been long ago forgotten to the woods

It once was an expensive dream car for some lucky family.

Maybe someone delivered their new babies home from the hospital in this car. Maybe the car was purchased with money from a big job promotion. Maybe it was driven on a first date — a drive to a sock hop perhaps. Maybe it safely carried someone across the country before Eisenhower began construction of the interstate highway system.

The only thing that's certain is that it used to be somebody's baby. It was a prized possession. Maintained and polished to a shine. Even now, rusting away lonely in the woods, unloved and forgotten, it sits patiently with dignity — ever so slowly disintegrating back to the Earth.
